Schüttkasten Essling

The Schüttkasten, a historical granary, served as a stronghold by the French during the Battle of Aspern-Essling in 1809, and was never captured by the Austrians. Inside, you will find an impressive diorama featuring 8,500 figures, river landscapes, houses, and the Danube, which was still unregulated at that time.

GUIDED TOURS AND INFORMATION

Guided tours are offered every hour on the hour, providing information on the diorama, the crossing of the Danube, and the involvement of the villages of Aspern and Essling.
