Donaustadt District Museum
The Donaustadt District Museum is housed in the former fire station of the Kagran Volunteer Firefighters and in the adjacent former station building of steam trams. It is home to numerous artefacts from the history of the district’s eight neighbourhoods, among them the Maria Theresa Gate of Essling and the former church clock from Süßenbrunn.
The museum currently showcases various ways in which people used to write and communicate, ‘From the Pencil to the Computer’. The presentation includes typewriters from different manufacturers and eras, and much more.
Visitors can also see paintings and drawings by artists Ingeborg Neschwara and Georg Schweinhammer under the title ‘What Life Has to Say’, and works by Erwin Pullar created from wooden toys.
