Austrian Folk Song Association
The Austrian Folk Song Association (ÖVLW) in Operngasse comprises the umbrella organisation for the Austrian federal states’ folk song associations and the Archives of the Austrian Folk Song Institute (Austrian National Library). The ‘Treffpunkt Operngasse’ (‘Meeting place Operngasse’) brings together all the ÖVLW’s activities, which include a variety of main topics, ranging from exhibition spaces and displays to events (concerts, discussions, guided tours, and workshops). It is a vibrant platform that connects the archive, research, and artistic practice, fosters dialogue between tradition and the present, documents these findings for posterity, and makes them digitally accessible.
Special theme of the evening: ‘The Drum in Folk Music’.
