Natural History Museum Vienna
The Natural History Museum Vienna (NHM) is both a cultural and historical gem and a significant natural science institution. Its collections, which contain 30 million scientific objects, are more than 270 years old. Notable highlights include the Venus of Willendorf, Steller's sea cow, and the new science communication hall ('Deck 50').
The NHM Vienna's extensive collections provide insights into the past, present and future of our planet. Witnesses to the Earth’s history such as minerals or fossils, meteorites from outer space, human skeletons, and specimens from the animal and plant world are not only collected and exhibited, but they are also the subject of continuous research using ever-new scientific methods.
