Fire Department Museum Vienna
340 years of the professional fire brigade, 125 years of the museum, 60 years of Vienna’s Regional Firefighters Association: the Vienna Fire Brigade has plenty of reasons to celebrate this year. Visit the redesigned Fire Department Museum Vienna in its historical 18th-century building.
While on the ground floor, the fire engines are ready to roll out, the museum on the first floor offers an insight into the world of firefighters: alarm procedures, equipment, tools, awards, and much more. Major historical fire fighting operations, including the ones at the Ringtheater and Rotunda fires, are brought to life. Valuable paintings and sculptures are on display alongside fire helmets and models of fire engines.
To mark this anniversary year, historic fire engines are also being exhibited in one of the vehicle halls.
Young visitors are invited to operate a fire hose themselves and to see a modern fire engine up close.
GUIDED TOURS (ALL NIGHT UPON REQUEST)
During the ‘ORF Long Night of Museums’, talks on topics such as the Ringtheater fire, the Rotunda fire or the Justizpalast fire, as well as guided tours of the special exhibition will be offered at short intervals. Visitors can join in at any time.
FIRE ENGINE DISPLAY (ONGOING)
