Special exhibition ‘120 Years of Motorisation in the Vienna Police Force’
At this year’s exhibition at the Ministry of the Interior, the car takes centre stage. The special exhibition, '120 Years of Motorisation in the Vienna Police Force', traces the force's transition from using bicycles and horse-drawn carriages to fighting crime with motorised vehicles. The first Viennese police officer to undergo driver training did so in 1906. Today, 120 years later, it is impossible to imagine everyday police work without the police car!
During the 'ORF Long Night of Museums', there will be guided tours on the history of police vehicles and of the Ministry of the Interior. Visitors will also have the chance to sit in a vintage police car and try on a uniform!
