Museum of the Bohemian Forest
The Museum of the Bohemian Forest exhibits artefacts from the historical regions of the Bohemian Forest, Egerland and the Erzgebirge. The exhibition focuses on immigration from the lands of the Austro-Hungarian Empire to Vienna, the former imperial capital, from the second half of the 19th century onwards. Another focus of the display is the integration of immigrants and of those displaced after the Second World War in Vienna.
The special exhibition 'Glöckelberg – Zvonková. A Place with a Poetic Name and an Eventful Past' explores the fate of border regions after the construction of the Iron Curtain, using the village of Glöckelberg (Zvonková) as a case study. This village disappeared after 1945. The renovation of the church and cemetery following the border's opening in 1989 is a successful example of reconciliation and communication after a long period of separation.
