Special exhibition ‘Jumbo Magic Sets’: The German merchant Engelbert Gottfried Hausemann set up a general store in Amsterdam in 1853. In 1882, he joined forces with his nephew Wilhelm Arnold Hötte to found a joint venture. They sold toys and games from 1930 onwards, and in 1970 also began manufacturing magic sets, which featured a wide variety of wooden props. Many of these sets contain extraordinary magic equipment and equally extraordinary instructions.
