Albertina Modern

The ‘Vasarely & Adrian’ exhibition features hypnotic motifs, pulsating shapes and flickering patterns: in many of his works, Victor Vasarely challenges our sense of sight. His multiform body of work is as relevant today as it ever was: it anticipated the aesthetics of computer games by making use of visual effects like the ones generated by computers today. The depiction of movement in art is the central subject matter of Marc Adrian, who was described by Peter Weibel as the ‘father of media art’. In the exhibition at Albertina Modern, the works of these two grand masters of Op Art are presented side by side, bringing them into a multifaceted direct dialogue with one another.
