Emperor Franz Joseph Hat Museum
The Emperor Franz Joseph Hat Museum is an interactive museum situated in a 300-year-old monastic wine cellar. Alongside valuable collector's items in the display cases, the hat collection also features unusual models from the ‘good old days’. The collection focuses on hats from the time of Emperor Franz Joseph I, a period that saw a golden age of hat-making in terms of the variety of headgear worn by the noble Viennese society and the magnificent uniforms of the imperial and royal army.
GUIDED TOURS OF THE MUSEUMS (6 PM-12 AM)
What sets these tours at the Emperor Franz Joseph Hat Museum and the Imperial and Royal Wine Treasury apart from traditional museum visits is that visitors can wear precious items from the hat collection and take a photo rather than just looking at the exhibits. Visitors can thus slip into the roles of personalities from Viennese society of days gone by and are encouraged to participate in the charming social etiquette of the 19th century that originated at the imperial court.
CHILDREN'S PROGRAMME
On the museum stage, children can experience ‘hand-kissing training’ and learn about the charming etiquette of the imperial era.
