Urania Observatory
The Urania Observatory is the oldest public observatory in Vienna. Despite the brightness of the city, it allows astronomical observations thanks to its automatic double telescope.
Opened in 1910 on the occasion of the passage of Halley's Comet, the Urania Observatory quickly became very popular with the Viennese public. Today, it is run by the Adult Education Centres in Vienna as are the Planetarium at Prater and the Kuffner Observatory in the 16th district.
Please note that admission is every half hour, that a reservation ticket is required (available on site), and that telescope observations are only possible in good weather.
