Sigmund Freud Museum
Wien IX, Berggasse 19. This is the address where Sigmund Freud lived and worked for 47 years before he had to flee from the Nazis in 1938. This place is known worldwide as the birthplace of psychoanalysis - it was here that Freud revolutionized the human self-image. Freud's former home and workplace now houses an exhibition on the life and work of the founder of psychoanalysis.
The special exhibition, ‘Documents of Injustice. The Case of Freud’, sheds light on the last months of the Freud family in Nazi Vienna, focusing on the flight and dispossession of Sigmund Freud and his brother Alexander, and the deprivation of rights, deportation, and murder of their four sisters. Personal notes and previously unknown documents vividly recount their cruel fate.
