The Museum of Military History is a historical museum focusing on military history.

THE CRAZY, BAROQUE WIG AND YOUR PERSONAL GOLDEN FLEECE (6 PM-10 PM)

The Golden Fleece is an order exclusively reserved for very few. That's not fair! Children are therefore invited to simply make their own!

SPECIAL GUIDED TOURS (6 PM-11 PM)

The assassination of the heir to the throne of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy and his wife in Sarajevo is considered the key event that led to ‘the seminal catastrophe of the twentieth century’ – the First World War. This year is the 110th anniversary of the incident. Selected objects will be discussed on every full and half hour.

THE AUSTRIAN HEROES' MONUMENT ON HELDENPLATZ SQUARE (6 PM-11 PM)

The outer castle gate, which was erected in the 1820s and was the ideological prestige building of the authoritarian regime of the Dollfuß-Schuschnigg dictatorship, became the scene of state and military rituals during the Second Republic. Every hour on the hour, guided tours of the Heroes' Monument on Heldenplatz square provide an insight into lesser-known facts.

DIRECTOR'S GUIDED TOUR (AT 6 PM, AT 6.45 PM AND AT 7.30 PM)

Director Georg Hoffmann welcomes visitors to themed tours and talks about his vision for a contemporary historical museum with a focus on military history.

WHAT DO CONSERVATOR-RESTORERS ACTUALLY DO IN A MUSEUM?

In the Hall of Fame, the conservator-restorers of the Museum of Military History provide insight into their important work on the objects in the collection.
