Schüttkasten Essling – Museum Aspern-Essling 1809

The Schüttkasten, a grain storage dating back around 300 years, displays uniforms, pictures, historical views, and a variety of artefacts. Of particular note is the 14-square-metre diorama containing 8,546 figures, which depicts the villages of Aspern and Essling, the Danube still unregulated in 1809, and the military conflicts between Archduke Carl and Napoleon on 21 and 22 May 1809 in great detail.
There is also an exhibition on grain storage buildings in Austria and historical views of Aspern and Essling.
