kex—kunsthalle exnergasse
The kex—kunsthalle exnergasse in the WUK Werkstätten- und Kulturhaus in Vienna defines itself as an open platform for innovative, experimental and contemporary art projects.
In the exhibition ‘building < against. Defiant Materials, Resistant Buildings, Future Worlds’ artistic means are employed to explore resistance buildings, protest architectures, and an alternative approach to building. Featuring the work of Lisa Bolyos, Cäcilia Brown, Gruppe Bussi, Tomash Schoiswohl, and Julia Wieger.
AT THE DOCKYARD AT NIGHT (6 PM-12 AM)
A ‘shelf’, a central spatial element of the exhibition, contains a collection of alternative, found, and useless building materials. In the neighbouring ‘dockyard’, visitors can continue to build a protest structure from these materials together with the artists.
DEFIANT MATERIALS (FROM 6 PM TO 9.30 PM, ALWAYS AT .30 PM)
The exhibition organisers will guide you through the exhibition, talking about protests in public spaces and ‘defiant materials’ in Vienna’s history.
PULCINELLA'S RETURN TO MATZLEINSDORFERPLATZ (AT 8 PM AND AT 10 PM)
The artist Tomash Schoiswohl will explain his long-standing engagement with Vienna's Matzleinsdorfer Platz and show and discuss his film ‘Pulcinella's Return to Matzleinsdorferplatz’, which was produced for the exhibition.
