Club 1018 – The Pop-up Railway Museum

For the 'ORF Long Night of Museums', platform 1 of the Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof train station in Vienna is transformed into a unique pop-up railway museum, where Club 1018 will open the cab doors. The focus will be on carefully preserved locomotives and railcars from past decades, such as the legendary 1018.05 or the 1010s 003 and 10. These powerful contemporary witnesses to the history of technology are usually hidden away and not accessible to the public.

For the first time, you will have the opportunity to experience these historic vehicles up close. Climb aboard, explore the original driver's cabs and engine rooms, and take a look behind the scenes. These mighty machines have stories to tell from a time when travelling was still an adventure, for both train drivers and passengers!

Expert guided tours and presentations will provide exciting insights into the world of railways from the 1950s to the early 2000s, covering everything from technical ingenuity to moving moments on rails.

This is an evening for technology enthusiasts, nostalgics, and anyone who wants to be amazed!
