The Administrative Library
Taking a journey through the library's 175-year history sheds light on continuity and change, upheavals and the fates of individuals. The exhibition recounts tales of pioneering spirit and technological progress, as well as the varied activities that constitute library work. Since its establishment in 1849/50, the library has played a key role in shaping the history of libraries in Austria. It has always been a specialist library for the public administration. Its collections reflect Austria's history from the monarchy to the present day. A pioneer of electronic legal documentation, the library is now a modern information and service centre.
